ITB Berlin 2009
Greece presented a weak inbound performance January through August 2008, on a scale from zero percent and below, according to figures from the IPK International’s European Travel Monitor included within the ITB World Travel Trends Report 2008/2009. Cyprus was included among the countries that produced an inbound performance from one to four percent for the same period.
According to the ITB World Travel Trends Report, commissioned from consultants IPK International by ITB Berlin, as far as travel trends are concerned, 2009 is a very difficult year to forecast.
The main finding of the report is that the effects of the global economic and financial crisis, coupled with uneasiness over prices for raw materials and significant currency fluctuations, mean that no reliable forecasts can currently be made.
The report, based on assessments of some 60 tourism experts from 30 countries and core data supplied by the World Travel Monitor, is recognized as the largest ongoing survey on global travel trends in some 60 source countries.
ITB Berlin 2009 -the travel industry’s leading trade show- will take place 11-15 March and will be open to trade visitors from Wednesday to Friday. Parallel with the trade fair, the ITB Berlin Convention will take place 11-14 March 2009.
