Galileo Introduces Ferrynet System
Galileo Hellas now offers an online booking and ticketing system for Greek ferry lines. The system, Ferrynet, a product created through cooperation with Anite Travel Systems, provides travel agencies and subscribers with access to seat availability, online reservations and ticketing.
Initially, Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries have hooked up to the system but Galileo say it’s confident that its system will become the major distributor for all coastal line products because it offers speed, quality and validity.
Through its web site, www.ferrynet.gr, Galileo says its product applies the most advanced technology following the Internet browser philosophy, and exploits Galileo’s updated IP telecommunications network, thus offering travel agencies a complete, modern, flexible and user-friendly tool for providing direct, online services to customers.
Training on ferrynet is completed within three hours at the company’s special training rooms in Athens and Thessaloniki. The on-site technical support (help desk) follows Galileo’s high qualitative standards.
Galileo Hellas, an Olympic Airways’ subsidiary company, is the biggest Greek company that specializes in electronically distributing reservations’ systems in the tourism and transport industry. It holds a prominent position among electronic systems for seats’ reservations (GDS) in Greece with on-line connections to more than 1,100 travel agencies.
Since its establishment, Galileo has possessed one of the largest telecommunications network in Greece used for distributing its products as well as for meeting the tourism market’s special needs in telecommunications. In 2001, the process of its network’s upgrade to IP technology began in order to provide up-to-date products and services in the tourism market.
Galileo Hellas SA has been awarded as the best electronic reservations’ system in 1998 and 1999, as well as Galileo International’s best NDC in Europe for the year 2000.
