Egialia Hosts Wine Festival, Features Local Vineyards and Wineries
The area of Egialia, located in Achaia in the Peloponnese, between August 17 and 27 will host the “Oinoxenia- Landscapes and Tastes of Egialia” festival, dedicated to the local wines and delicacies.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste wines combined with delicacies of the traditional local cuisine; participate in cultural events, including exhibitions and concerts; visit local wineries and vineyards; attend wine tasting evets and explore the area’s landscapes.
“The harmony of tastes is at the epicenter this year, in a place which uniquely combines nature and humans, tradition and culture, the area’s long history with the present day, the waves and firs,” the Municipal Welfare Organization of the Egialia Municipality said in an announcement. “It is a place that Pafsanias (the Greek traveler and geographer of the 2nd century AD) highlighted for its wines and Oscar-winning director Alexander Payne embraced as a ‘global ambassador of Egialia’s wines’ in 2016,” the organization said.
It is the fifth year that the festival is taking place and aims at showcasing the area’s “wine routes” and the wineries of the “Oinoxenia” network. It is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Tourism, Culture, Agriculture Development and Foods.
