The event will see the participation of over 40 Greek enterprises. Most of the participants are local producers of olive oil, honey, cheese, pomegranates, snails, traditional cosmetics and popular art pieces.

According to the event’s organizers, the Region of Crete – Rethymno Regional Unit, the Municipality of Rethymno and the Chamber of Rethymno, the island’s agricultural products, culture and traditions are Crete’s true ambassadors.  “The celebration will showcase the wealth of our island and all the elements that make it unique in the world. All the features that make millions of people travel from the four corners of the earth to the island,” an announcement said.

During the festival, Greek chef Stelios Parliaros will create Cretan delicacies, using local products, while chef Vasilis Leonidou will hold an oil tasting event.

The “Wines of Crete”, an organization dedicated to the promotion of the island’s wines, will hold a master class on the Cretan vineyards.

Furthermore, wine experts and journalists Andreas Androulidakis and Simos Georgopoulos will hold a seminar on the varieties of Cretan cheese and wines.

The 6th Cretan Diet Festival will also include educational activities for children, music and dancing events, featuring popular Cretan artists.
