GB Roof Garden Wins 2016 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

The GB Roof Garden Restaurant of the Hotel Grande Bretagne has been honored by the Wine Spectator magazine’s annual Restaurant Awards for the fourth year in a row.

Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine and since 1976 focuses on the culture of wine. Its awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.

The GB Roof Garden in Athens was awarded with the Best of Award of Excellence 2016 title, a distinction that honors and establishes the destination for true wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in its cellar and through its service team.

The Sommelier of the GB Roof Garden is Evangelos Psofidis, who has a significant knowledge and passion for wines and spirits. He aims to display the largest wine-producing regions of the world through the wine lists of the restaurants and includes wines that accurately represent the characteristics of these areas.

Moreover, the restaurant GB Roof Garden follows the philosophy of ‘food pairing wine’ and believes that the ultimate taste experience can be achieved with Mediterranean dishes that are perfectly matched with fine wines.

The GB Roof Garden of the Hotel Grande Bretagne and the Tudor Hall Restaurant of the King George hotel are the only restaurants in Athens that were included in the Wine Spectator’s list for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.

This year, 3,595 restaurants hailing from all US 50 states and 71 other countries were recognized for their outstanding wine lists by Wine Spectator magazine.
