Greek Sailors Call Four-day Strike on May 6-10
The Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) announced on Thursday that it will hold a four-day strike in Greece in all ship categories starting from 6 am on Friday, May 6, until 6 am on Tuesday, May 10.
The federation is holding the strike in protest of the government’s pension reform plans.
The debate of the draft law on pension and tax reforms will begin in parliament on Saturday morning and end with a vote on Sunday night.
According to information from shipping companies, the strike will result in the cancellation of all scheduled ferry routes from the ports of Athens and Attica (Piraeus, Rafina, Lavrio). Many routes between the islands are expected to operate normally. Coastal shipping companies advise passengers, travelling between the islands or to Athens, to contact their local port agents for further information.
