Greece wants to Attract more Visitors from Saudi Arabia

Aiming to boost Greece’s promotion in Saudi Arabia to attract more visitors, Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura recently exchanged views with tourism professionals visiting Athens from the Middle Eastern market.

Sixteen representatives of leading tour operators and travel agencies based in Riyadh recently took part in a familiarization trip (fam trip) to Greece. According to the ministry, such fam trips are part of a broader planning for the strategic opening of Greece in the dynamic markets of the Middle East.

During her meeting with the Saudi Arabian tourism professionals, Minister Kountoura referred to the ministry’s targeted action plan for the promotion of Greece in Saudi Arabia. The minister considers Saudi Arabia a dynamically growing tourism market for Greece.

She also referred to the forthcoming 2nd Greek Tourism Workshop in Riyadh next week that will strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the tourism markets of both countries. At the workshop, the ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization will be represented by GNTO’s secretary general, Dimitris Tryfonopoulos.

On their part, the Saudi Arabian tourism professionals underlined the significant potential for tourism cooperation between the two markets.

Representatives from the following enterprises took part in the fam trip to Greece: Hotelbeds, HafifTravel, FlyinTravel, EjazTravel, JawwalTravel, AlKhalafTravel, AlFarisTravel, ElafTravel, AttarTravel, GlobalTravelClubTour, ACTS, TimeTravel, AlMousimTravel, AlTayyarTravel, AlSarh, and Aegean Airlines office in Riyadh.

While in Greece, the Saudi Arabian tour operators and travel agents toured the sights of Athens and of the Attica region and also visited Nafplio, Epidaurus and Aegina.
