Maxim: One Of The Best Beaches in the World Is On Folegandros, Greece
Katergo Beach on Folegandros Island in Greece is one of the beaches that people will happily travel far to find and even suffer any number of inconvenience, according to American magazine Maxim.
The men’s lifestyle magazine has drawn up a list of the seven best beaches in the world that have an “awesome shoreline, complete with sand like talcum powder, water that is aquamarine, breezes that are gentle, and views uncluttered by shuffling tourists.”
On Katergo Beach in particular, Maxim notes: “Located on Folegandros, a small island situated between Santorini, Sikinos and Milos, this sheltered beach is prized for its calm, azure waters and clear views of fish, which you can even spot from the shoreline. Accessible by boat or a short hike from the road, the remote location is what makes Katergo something of a secret destination for those in-the-know, who want to escape the crush of tourists typically found in this part of the Mediterranean.”
The list of “seven wonders that should keep you tan all year round,” can be seen below:
1. White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands
2. Kailua Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii
3. Playa de las Catedrales, Galicia, Spain
4. Tetiaroa, Tahiti
5. Coast Guard Beach, Eastham, Massachusetts
6. Taipu de Fora, Bahia, Brazil
7. Katergo Beach, Folegandros, Greece
