Greece Reshuffles Cabinet, Tourism Unaffected
Pavlos Geroulanos was among the few untouched ministers and remained at his post as Culture and Tourism Minister last month following Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou’s cabinet reshuffle.
According to the Greek press, the Greek tourism sector was pleased with the announcement as the reshuffle occurred amid the tourism season and important issues for the sector’s development had already been launched. Tourism professionals told the press that this year’s tourism season must proceed without “regretful incidents” and in particular “without elections” as that would have a disastrous effect on the country’s tourism agenda.
George Nikitiadis also remained at his post as Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister.
Last month’s government reshuffle included the change of Greece’s finance minister, George Papaconstantinou, a position now taken over by Evangelos Venizelos, and the abolishment of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Islands Ministry.
