HATTA Eyes Azerbaijani Tourism Market
Azerbaijan’s tourism market offers opportunities for tourism and business partnerships, according to members of the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) who attended a familiarization tour in Azerbaijan on 22-28 June.
The tour was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan.
According to tourism professionals in Azerbaijan, Greece is an ideal destination for their growing tourist market as “the country has significant advantages when compared with other European destinations.”
On the sidelines of the tour, HATTA members attended a meeting with Aydin Ismiyev, head of the tourism department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan.
Mr. Ismiyev stressed that a key obstacle for the establishment of Greece as a tourism destination is the fact that a visa is required and that a direct flight does not exist.
He then added that a direct flight connecting Baku to Athens would possibly be effective as of this October.
