Skal World Congress Set For Thailand in Mid-October
The 67th Skal International World Congress will take place October 15-20 in Pattaya, Thailand. This year’s program has numerous highlights. For example, for the first time, the Congress’ Tourism Forum will take the form of a Business-to-Business workshop with numerous keynote speakers discussing topics of interest to the travel and tourism industry.
Another highlight will be the 5th Ecotourism Awards Ceremony that will take place during the Opening Ceremony. Skal International launched these annual awards to recognize global best practices following the United Nations’ declaration of 2002 as the Year of Ecotourism.
Skal considers sustainable tourism development as the key to the industry’s future success. This year, 50 entries from 26 countries have been received in categories including rural and urban accommodation, tour operators, and educational programs. Also being held in Thailand in October are the Incentive Travel & Convention, Meetings Asia and the Corporate Travel World Exhibition, and they have agreed on a joint marketing project with Skal. Skal is the largest global organization for travel and tourism professionals.
