A ‘BSP-like’ System Created For Ferry Lines
Piraeus-based CTS (Coastal Transportation Services), which is a member of the a Piraeus Bank Group, will soon provide a complete pioneering system for the settlement of sales through agents in coastal transportation and other tourism services.
An electronic settlement system, similar to the airline’s Bank Settlement Plan, will give total solutions to problems associated with the settlement of sales. The system will be fully on line, have a standard ticket for all ferry companies, offer electronic reservations through the Internet and global distribution systems, allow for standard billings and standard payments.
Meanwhile, CTS, in cooperation with SHIPnet, provides an on-line system for issuing e-tickets and for settlement of sales by Italian agencies on behalf of Greek and Cypriot ferry companies. SHIPnet is an on-line system developed by Caripio and distributed in Italy in cooperation with IATA-Italy.
For the moment, the system enables travel agents to book and sell ferry tickets both for Italy and abroad through global distribution systems and through the Internet. With electronic ticketing and immediate billing, SHIPnet eliminates stock management, allows automatic billing of sales and issues electronic tickets.
Charges and commissions are debited and credited in real time and can be displayed on line. Clients access SHIPnet services by simply signing an agreement with IATA-Italy.
