Athens International Airport expects to see a sharp rise in Chinese arrivals to Greece this year following the launch of Air China’s Athens-Shanghai direct route.
Greece welcomed the first direct flight from Shanghai last month, after the country’s flag carrier Air China announced the launch of routes to Athens Airport.
China is counting on Greece to further strengthen ties in areas such as tourism, education and trade, according to its Ambassador to Greece Xiao Junzheng.
Greece and China have agreed to work together on a two-year joint action plan which foresees among others targeted promotional activities and increasing tourist flows.
