Professor Harry Coccossis, CEO of the Tourism Development Company; Krinio Kanellopoulou, member of Parliament for the New Democracy party; Nikos Michalopoulos, vice-prefect of Ilia; Petros Alivizatos, president of the Tourism Development Company; Yiorgos Kontoyiannis, under-secretary for employment and social protection; and Pantazis Chronopoulos, mayor of Zacharo. Mr. Alivizatos spoke of the company's plans for Kaifa to become an Eco Family Adventure Park that will offer mild recreational activities. Only bicycles or other means that are friendly to the environment will be permitted on the grounds.

Kaifa Woods Gets Facelift

In an attempt to restore the natural environment that was damaged by the destructive fires of 2007, a reforestation campaign in the woods of Kaiafa was recently held by the Tourism Development Company in cooperation with the Olympia Forestry and volunteer groups.

Major State Investment Program For Tourism

Athens could soon acquire a theme park, an aquarium, a marine research park and more marinas as part of a major two-year investment project by the Hellenic Tourism Organization's new real estate subsidiary, Development Minister Nikos Christodoulakis said last month.
