The Lufthansa Group airlines - Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines - on Thursday claimed substantial progress regarding B2B direct connections, while announcing further developments of its distribution strategy on the sidelines of the ITB trade show in Berlin.
As of Tuesday, September 1, all airline tickets issued by a booking channel using global distribution systems (GDS) for flights with Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines and Swiss, will include a new “distribution cost charge” (DCC) of 16 euros.
For the fourth time in a row, Lufthansa German Airlines was voted Europe’s leading Airline at the World Travel Awards 2014 on 2 August in Athens, Greece, following a voting process that involved 230,000 travel tourism and hospitality professionals worldwide.
The new Premium Economy Class of Lufthansa can be booked from May onwards and will be available from November 2014, initially on the Boeing 747-8, an announcement read. The new seats will gradually be fitted on the entire long-haul fleet within twelve months.
Germany’s Lufthansa has recorded steady passenger growth from Greece to Europe and the United States and vice versa, according to Jens Bischof, responsible for sales at Lufthansa’s passenger airline.
