The Greek Government has extended the reduced 13 percent value-added tax (VAT) rate on food services beyond a five-month trial period that expires on 31 December 2013.
Value-added tax (VAT) on Greek food services will be set at 13 percent (from 23 percent) as of 1 August until 31 December, at restaurants, bars, taverns and hotels.
The president of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, said that the Government's agreement with the troika to reduce the VAT on food catering services was "a personal success" of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.
