Greek railways operator Ergose has announced that the Athens-Thessaloniki rail line is now open and will be fully operational by the end of the month, following the completion of the Lianokladi-Domokos segment near Lamia.
Works on the railway aiming to reduce travel time from Athens to Thessaloniki down to three hours are proceeding, according to Transport Minister Christos Spirtzis.
Nine Greek transport projects are slated to receive EU funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) after the European Commission’s decision earlier this month to inject 6.7 billion euros in transport infrastructure to boost jobs and growth.
