Pushing for year-round tourism growth by tapping into local products, culinary traditions, cultural offerings and the beauty of its landscape, the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace participated in this year’s Philoxenia travel fair held in Thessaloniki last week.
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Prefect Giorgos Pavlidis recently stated that thousands of tourists are being turned away due to the time-consuming procedure, which is leading to a loss in revenue and business.
In efforts to revive dwindling tourist interest, the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has decided to place tourism at the center of its development strategy with the aim to “rebrand” the wider location as a "tourist destination of excellence”.
