The Greek government has announced a new measure that reduces leasing charges imposed on tourism and F&B enterprises of Northern Evia for use of seashore and beach areas.
Road network improvements, forest regeneration and the development of tourism facilities are among priorities set out in the regeneration plan for Northern Evia.
"Our priority is to ensure that tourism enterprises affected by the devastating fires on Evia will be operational as soon as possible," Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said.
Tourism enterprises in Northern Evia face viability challenges after fires ravaged the island this month, with local hoteliers calling for an urgent recovery package.
Evia tourism professionals affected by the recent fires that burned most of the northern part of the island, are calling for additional non-returnable relief measures.
Evia residents and business owners impacted by the devastating fires will receive financial support in the coming days, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said.
