The Athens Development and Destination Management Agency recently presented the Athens Convention Bureau’s (ACB) new action plan and membership package for 2012-2013 and invited Greek enterprises involved directly or indirectly with conference tourism to join the program.
Ever larger numbers of Greek hoteliers have invested heavily in conference facilities over the past years. So far, the investment has paid off. Expenses have been covered royally as income from conference organization is substantial.
A new "wonder" and millennium monument will be built on Rodos harbour by 2004, according to the island's mayor, Giorgos Yiannopoulos. The monument will draw inspiration from the "Kolossos" statue, one of the Seven Wonders of the World that was allegedly ruined some 2,220 years ago.
Thessaloniki beats out Greece's capital and takes the initiative to establish the country's first convention and visitors bureau. Its role will be to promote conference tourism to northern Greece.
