Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) President Angela Gerekou sees Piraeus as a city that can evolve into a popular city break destination offering culture and gastronomy as some of its main attractions.
Greek ports are expected to welcome more than 5 million cruise passengers this summer, with the ports of Piraeus, Santorini and Corfu leading the activity.
The Piraeus port is in the top seven of Europe’s container ports and among the world’s fastest growing, according to shipping insight platform PortEconomics.
Greece will be represented on the new Board of Directors of MedCruise, the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports, by the ports of Piraeus, Volos and Corfu.
