International Arrivals to Greece Up 8.6% in Jan-Sep 2015

International arrivals to Greece increased by 8.6 percent in the first nine months of 2015, according to a border survey conducted by the Bank of Greece and released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Monday.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the city’s tourism development will include a strategy that will extend to neighborhoods throughout the city and not be not limited to the historic center.

Hellenic Statistical Authority: Greece Sees 23% Jump in Tourist Arrivals in 2014

For the year 2014, Greece saw a 23 percent increase in non-resident tourist arrivals compared with the number in 2013.

ITEP noted that the drop in arrivals is due to longstanding structural problems of the economy and the tourist sector as well as the global financial crisis.

Arrivals of foreigners to Greece last year recorded a 15.5 percent increase, according to recently released figures compiled by the border survey of the Bank of Greece.
