This year’s event will take place during 16-18 October 2020, in Messinia and Costa Navarino, anticipating hundreds of professional and amateur athletes, who will take part in its numerous activities.
The multi-awarded sports tourism event, that promotes sports and fair play as its main goal, will be, once again, full of activities for all ages.
Navarino Challenge follows, as every year, the ideals of the Olympic Movement, which is to educate youth through sports, without discrimination and in keeping with the Olympic spirit of fair play. Messinia has started spreading the message “Sports Unite People” around the world with the participation of Olympic athletes and hall of famers.
Navarino Challenge allows participants to be informed and involved in its activities to support the sacred goal of combating childhood obesity through exercise and awareness of the benefits of a Mediterranean diet.
This year, the event will further promote charity by supporting:
a) the Captain Vasilis and Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation
b) Karkinaki
c) Dogs’ Voice and
d) Fashion Targets Breast and Prostate Cancer.
Navarino Challenge, with the most Olympic athletes ever participating as ambassadors in a sports event, returns again to Messinia, including more than 30 sports activities (more than 12 Olympic sports). Running, basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, golf, bike riding being examples of the sports featured.
Furthermore, two-times silver Olympic medalist in taekwondo Alexandros Nikolaidis, world champion in 400m. with hurdles Periklis Iakovakis, gold Paralympic medalist and world champion in boccia Grigoris Polychronidis, European long jump champion Miltos Tentoglou, former international Greek volleyball player and record holder of participations with the Greek National Team Michalis Triantafyllidis will be among those who attend the 8th Navarino Challenge.

Navarino Challenge, in its eight-year successful course, is the first sports tourism event in Greece to win an award in the “Best In Wellness” category at the International Travel & Tourism Awards by WTM London last year. Furthermore, it has been awarded with platinum and gold distinctions at the Ermis Awards, Tourism Awards, Sports Marketing Awards, Event Awards and Digital Media Awards, setting new booking records for The Westin Resort Costa Navarino.
Navarino Challenge will be held with the co-organization of Costa Navarino, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and Active Media Group and the support of Pylos-Nestor Municipality. The award-winning Active Media Group is responsible for the event’s Sports Production. The event is held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization. All running races are co-organized with Messiniakos Gymnastic Club and EAS SEGAS Peloponnese Region.
Navarino Challengehas joined the Greek actions of the #BeactiveHellas 2020 programme of the European Commission and is under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Sports.
