With “Sweet Pistachio” Aegina welcome the visitors to this year’s festival. It is a theatrical presentation which will take you back in time to the 1960s, creating a vintage atmosphere along with the orchestra of traditional instruments and local dance groups.
Aegina Fistiki Fest 2015 will also include:
– Gastronomy proposals, with the aim to make backlavas with 100 sheets of filo and of course Aegina pistachios. The executive pastry chef Mr Tassos Protopsaltis and members of the Athens Club of Masterchefs will supervise the procedure, while will be held again the combination of the famous product with locally-produced honey!
– Child festival with stories, treasure hunts, and educational programmes through theatrical games are some of the activities that are planned for the young friends.
– Cultural events as Aegina, with its rich traditions and history, has always been renowned for the way it attracts artists of all kinds. A rich music programme with renowned artists will highlight the event. Furthermore, this year’s programme includes guided tours, talks, ceramic, model boat and photographic exhibitions, painting workshops, demonstrations of lace-making and of course musical evenings for all tastes.
The fest is dedicated to the internationally known Pistachio (Fistiki) of Aegina Island (a Protected Designation of Origin product) with its unique taste and quality. It takes place every year since 2009 in the middle of September, when the pistachio’s harvest is completed.
Apart from the trade exhibition along the coastline of Aegina’s town, the Aegina Fistiki Fest includes gastronomy events, creative activities, workshops for children, concerts, seminars etc. Find here the program in details.
The Aegina Fistiki Fest secretary is housed at the office of KEDA in Aegina town. The office is open from 9:00-12:00.
