The Department of Planning and Regional Development, School of Engineering, University of Thessaly, organizes the 4th National Conference of Urban Planning and Regional Development, to be held on the school’s facilities in Volos from 24 to 27 September 2015.
Conference aims to highlight, discuss and explore of the overall range of aspects relating to spatial planning in Greece and abroad, with main axes the urban & land planning, the urban and regional development, as well as the sustainable development and environmental management.
Conference addresses to people activated on the above subjects: scientific community members, academics and researchers, local government officials, professionals, employees and students.
Recommendations for all subjects of land planning and development will be performed in the conference. The program includes topics such as: the new institutional framework of land planning and environment, spatial impacts of the crisis, location’s marketing and branding, leisure (tourism, culture, sports, entertainment), sound design, city and cinema, climate change and action, ecosystems and biodiversity protection, transports and sustainable mobility, housing policy, real estate management, innovation and entrepreneurship, investments sited, geoinformatics, open data, urban regeneration, life quality, social problems and spatial development, demographic developments, primary sector and diet sustainable design etc. Special sessions of young scientists are will also be included.
“Audiovisual representations of the city”, is titled the documentary film competition for students that will also be held within the frame of the conference, with main topic the city and its architecture. Additional a poster competition and a special event for undergraduate thesis will be also held.
