Sky Team Donates to SOS Children’s Villages

Sky Team aviation alliance (which celebrates its eighth year) together with Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, recently donated 15,000 euros to the international child welfare organization SOS Children's Villages in Greece.

Greece Drops Four Slots in Country Brand Index

Greece falls to ninth place in the top 10 list of desired country brands when it comes to travel, according to the recent release of Country Brand Index 2007: “Greece has great country assets, but needs to be steadier with its brand efforts.”

Increased Tourists, Reduced Tourist Spending in 2007

Tourist spending appeared relatively low in Greece for 2007 when compared with 2004. According to a recent report released by the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises, the average spending of tourists per capita in 2004 was 882 euros. In 2007 this number dropped to 748 euros.

Tourism Minister Optimistic

Tourism Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos called a press conference recently and expressed his conclusions on Greek tourism and his optimism in regards to the current image Greece has within the sector.

First Round of Tourism Seminars Completed

The first round of tourism seminars that aim to train executives of the Greek foreign affairs ministry were recently completed. These seminars prepare the executives for their placement to countries where Greek tourism offices are not available.

The Municipality of Avdiron (south of Xanthi) organized its first fish tourism conference and implemented the first pilot program of fish tourism in Greece within the framework of the “Fish Tourism” plan.
