Uber, the popular ride-hailing company, has reported a significant increase in tourist traffic in Greece this summer.
According to data from the company, the number of tourists who opened the Uber app in Greece between April and June 2023 increased by 40 percent, while the number of foreign visitors who secured a ride through the app increased by 43 percent, compared to the same 2022 period.
The top three nationalities who used the Uber app in Greece during this period were visitors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. In particular, travelers from the United States who booked a ride through the app increased by 50 percent compared to the same period in 2022, while visitors from the United Kingdom and France recorded a 13 percent increase (each) in trips through the Uber app.
“We are experiencing a very strong start of the tourist season this year,” said Sarita Varouch, Uber Head of Greece. “Greece is also confirmed this year to be a top destination for international tourists, especially Americans who are choosing Europe for their summer vacations.”
As of today, Uber provides through its app the Uber Taxi service in Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Mykonos, and Corfu.
The app allows passengers to easily enter their destination and pick a taxi, check the estimated time of its arrival, the registration number, the model of the vehicle and all the necessary information for the driver.
