Celebrities Flock to Greece for Summer 2023 Island Fun
Experiencing tourism figures that are surpassing those of pre-Covid 2019, Greece is now set to achieve record visitor arrivals this summer.
While the country is high among destinations of choice for travelers from abroad this summer it’s turning into the place to be for a number of foreign celebrities.
Film stars such as George Clooney and Demi Moore, international pop singers like Dua Lipa and sports legends like Magic Johnson are only a few of the international celebrities that have been spotted enjoying the Greece’s beaches, crystal-clear waters and rich history.
Margot Robbie
High on her success with the recently released Barbie movie, which has become the highest grossing film worldwide in 2023 with almost 1.4 billion dollars at the box office, Aussie actress Margot Robbie was recently spotted dining at a local restaurant on Folegandros in the Cyclades island group.
The two-time Academy Award nominated actress, has told the press that Greek cuisine is one of her favorites but that she finds “taramasalata” (a Greek fish roe dip) “utterly disgusting”.
Demi Moore
US actress and star of 90s box office hits like Ghost (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), Indecent Proposal (1993), Demi Moore is one of the many world-renowned film stars that visited Greece this summer.
“Paradise ♥️ Basking in the sun, playing in the water, naps with furry friends, and a good book…”, was the tagline of one of the actress’ posts on Instagram who started her vacation earlier this month at the celebrity playground of Mykonos.
George Clooney, Matt Damon, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth & Christian Bale
Demi Moore is not the only celebrity that adores Mykonos, a favorite holiday destination for movie stars since the 1960s.
This summer, Oscar-winning actor-director George Clooney visited the island for Omega’s Speedmaster Watch promotional event.

His frequent co-star, Oscar-winning US actor Matt Damon, also visited the island with his wife and was spotted enjoying the island’s sandy beaches, drag shows and local gastronomy with popular Australian actors Chris and Liam Hemsworth who have starred in films Thor (2011) and The Hunger Games (2012) .
Welsh actor Christian Bale, who played Batman in Christopher Nolan’s the Dark Knight (2008) and won an Academy award for his performance in The Fighter (2011), also visited Mykonos with his wife, American stunt performer and driver Sidi Blazic and their two children.
Goldie Hawn – Kurt Russell
US film legends Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have become regular visitors of the island of Skiathos over the past years. This year the couple chose to stay at a villa near the renowned Achladies beach. They dined at the island’s taverns and took small trips by boat to neighboring islands.
Hawn took to Instagram on the last day of their vacation on the island and called it a “Paradise”.

English – Albanian singer and songwriter Dua Lipa spent some of the days of her summer holiday on Sifnos. She cruised around the Peloponnese with her partner Greek French filmmaker Romen Gavras.
The international pop star posted stories on her Instagram account during her Greek holiday where she spent most of her time swimming and sunbathing.
Claudia Schiffer
Claudia Schiffer, the iconic 1990s German supermodel, visited Spetses and Antiparos this year with her close friend and international beauty expert Uta Huesch. The duo went on a shopping spree, buying traditional products and honoring local summer fashion houses.
Ana De Armas
Star of “Blonde” and Academy award nominee Ana De Armas visited Porto Heli as a guest at a Louis Vuitton event. Before her departure she called Greece “stunning” in one of her social media posts about her experience.
Paris Hilton
US media personality and socialite Paris Hilton took a break from “mummy duties”, as she herself posted, and enjoyed a cruise around Greece’s Saronic islands with her husband, entrepreneur Carter Reum. Following the end of their vacation, Hilton took to Instagram to share a highlight video of her experience in Greece calling it “a stunning escape”.
Magic Johnson
NBA superstar Magic Johnson took his family on a multi-week Mediterranean cruise around the Greek islands and the Peloponnese.
Their stops included the Greek islands of Santorini, Mykonos, Kefalonia and Corfu. Their experience included tasting local food, enjoying the sea and getting to know the culture.
Rafael Nadal
Tennis legend Rafael Nadal took his family on a cruise around the Ionian islands this summer on his “Beethoven” yacht. Their stops included Corfu, Ithaca and Meganisi with Nadal taking pictures with locals at taverns and supermarkets.
The influx of celebrities to Greece is considered a major boost for the country’s tourism industry, which has been recovering due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Their presence also helps promote Greece to a wider audience through social media and is likely to attract more tourists to the country in the coming years.
