ITA Airways Launches New San Francisco-Rome Nonstop Flight
ITA Airways, Italy’s flag carrier, recently commenced its nonstop service between San Francisco and Rome, reinforcing the airlines’ position as a leading carrier connecting North America and Italy.
The San Francisco International Airport – Rome Fiumicino route will operate from July 1 to July 30 with three weekly frequencies departing every Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 3:15 p.m., and arriving in Rome Fiumicino at 12:05 p.m. the next day. Return flights from Rome Fiumicino will depart at 9:35 a.m., landing in San Francisco International Airport at 1:15 p.m.
During the peak summer season, from August 2 to September 30, the route will operate with five weekly roundtrip flights every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In October, operations will be on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
To celebrate the launch, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in San Francisco in the presence of the company’s representatives, diplomats and airport officials.
“The new connection to San Francisco enriches the intercontinental network of ITA Airways. With this new destination, we consolidate the company’s expansion towards the U.S. market, ” said Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways Emiliana Limosani.
For the launch of the new nonstop flight, ITA Airways has launched a social communication campaign, providing travelers with tips for their new trip through Google. Local influencers from Rome and San Francisco will answer frequently asked questions.
ITA Airways this year is investing in the intercontinental market with new direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to Washington (opened in June) and Rio de Janeiro (launching in October). Expanding long-haul routes is a key pillar of ITA Airways’ strategy.
The United States is the primary international market for ITA Airways, and direct flights from North America to Italy act as vital connections for both leisure and business travelers.
ITA Airways aims to become the preferred carrier between North America and Italy, extending to the rest of Europe and the Mediterranean through Rome. During the peak summer season, the company will operate 122 weekly roundtrip flights between North America and Italy.
The company has also introduced new content for the summer season, including a new business class menu curated by Chefs Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino of Don Alfonso 1890 Restaurant. The menu celebrates Italian cuisine and the Mediterranean food heritage.
