Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel Shows Commitment to Sustainability with Innovative Program
The five-star Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel and Spa in Sithonia, Halkidiki, announced the successful implementation of a sustainability program that it has consistently followed in recent years with a focus on sustainable development and environmental protection.
With an investment of over one million euros, the hotel has undertaken several initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing its customer service.
“For over 20 years, our hotel has been honored with the esteemed ‘Green Key‘ and ‘Blue Flag‘ eco-labels, which exemplify our unwavering commitment to environmental preservation. Through this program, our objective is to inspire other hotel owners to join us in our endeavor to transform Greece into a global green destination,” said Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel and Spa General Manager Fanis Noutsos.
One of the program’s notable accomplishments was the construction of a 400 KW photovoltaic park, spanning across the roof of the biological waste treatment building and the hotel’s outdoor parking area.
The installation offers shade to all 110 outdoor parking spaces, making it the largest of its kind in Greece. It satisfies around 35 percent of the hotel’s energy requirements and saves 240 tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to the impact of 340 mature trees.
The Anthemus hotel has also replaced traditional light bulbs with energy-efficient LEDs throughout its premises. This simple yet effective measure has resulted in significant energy savings and a considerable reduction in carbon emissions. Approximately 12,000 lamps have been replaced so far.
In addition, the Anthemus upgraded its air conditioning units to incorporate inverter technologies, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. Motion detectors were also installed in public areas to ensure that lighting is utilized only when necessary, thereby further reducing energy consumption.
To harness the power of the sun, solar panels were introduced to heat the main lagoon pool, the children’s pool, and provide hot water to guest rooms. Solar water heaters were installed in staff rooms as well, contributing to overall energy reduction.
In an effort to conserve water compared to conventional methods, the hotel’s gardens now boast an automatic irrigation system. Furthermore, water-saving filters were installed in taps throughout the establishment to minimize water consumption.
Anthemus Sea Beach Hotel and Spa offers a unique retreat nestled within a bay along the Elia coastline, complemented by a sandy beach that has been recognized with the Blue Flag distinction.
It offers 200 rooms, suites, and maisonettes, dining areas, a state-of-the-art conference center, a luxurious spa, and both indoor and outdoor pool facilities, among others.
