April Tourism Boosts Turnover at Greek Hotels and Restaurants
Greek Easter and the first international tourist arrivals to Greece boosted April turnover for accommodation and food and beverage (F&B) services providers by 22.8 percent, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
More specifically, turnover for both sectors of the tourism economy came to 472,601,134 euros in April from 384,739,863 euros in the same month a year ago.
Broken down: turnover in April for accommodation services increased by 29.7 percent over April 2022 to 293,556,877 euros up from 226,419,931 euros, up by an additional 67,14 million euros.
In the same month, turnover for F&B activities grew by 13.1 percent compared to April 2022 to 179,044,257 euros from 158,319,932.
The best performing regional unit in both areas compared to April 2022 was Corfu marking an overall 60.1 percent rise with the smallest increase at 7.3 percent reported on Mykonos.
A closer look at the regional division of the Cyclades islands shows the largest increase in accommodation and F&B services turnover on Milos up by 87.2 percent to a total of 214,778 euros over 114,717 euros in April 2022.
Other top performers in April include Syros recording 508,303 euros in revenues compared to 507,758 in 2022, Santorini (12,037,951 euros over 11,299,192 last year), Paros (951,685 euros over 749,501 euros), Tinos (129,077 euros compared to 98,685 euros), Andros (64,575 euros over 55,636 euros), and Kea-Kythnos (108,300 euros against 100,575 euros).
