NBA Basketball School Officially Opens at Costa Navarino in Greece
The NBA Basketball School officially launched at Costa Navarino in Messinia, the Peloponnese, on June 8, marking an exciting development for basketball enthusiasts. The school is the league’s first collaboration with a privately-run hospitality and sports destination in Europe.
Open to individuals aged 6-18 as well as adults, the NBA Basketball School’s program has already garnered significant interest since its launch less than a month ago, with over 500 families expressing their desire to participate.
The NBA coaching program offers one to six-day packages, catering to players of all skill levels. It encompasses court training, skill development, and basketball education.
The program’s inauguration event took place last Thursday and was attended by NBA Legend Joakim Noah, NBA executives, and NBA International Basketball Operations staff.
During the event, attendees enjoyed on-court programming, including basketball clinics, interaction with Joakim Noah, and half-court 3×3 competitions. The occasion also coincided with the display of the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, in sync with the ongoing 2023 NBA Finals featuring the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat.
“We welcome the NBA Basketball School to Costa Navarino and are excited to work with such an inspiring team. This unique program provides aspiring basketball players of all ages the opportunity to build skills and character while enjoying exceptional hospitality and leisure facilities,” said TEMES SA Managing Director Stephanos Theodorides.
NBA Legend Joakim Noah emphasized the importance of learning the fundamentals and values of the game from a young age, stating, “I look forward to seeing the NBA Basketball School at Costa Navarino inspire future generations and develop the stars of tomorrow.”
The meticulously developed curriculum of the NBA Basketball School has been designed by the NBA’s International Basketball Operations department. They have consulted with current and former NBA coaches, players, and player development specialists. The program aims to enhance player development while fostering a better understanding of the game among parents, coaches, and organizations.
Enrollment in the program is available to those booking their stay at renowned establishments such as The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, W Costa Navarino and Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino (opening in August).
