New York Post Highlights Two Greek ‘Must-visit’ Islands: Sifnos & Naxos
The islands of Sifnos and Naxos are leading Greek destinations to explore, according to the New York Post which recently ran an article focusing on Greece.
The article, titled “The best times to travel to Greece in 2023, per experts: How to book now” and written by Sophie Cannon, describes Greece as an “ideal blend” of culture, relaxation, island hopping and romantic getaways.
Matt Barrett, a renowned travel guide writer for greecetravel.com that specializes on Greek islands and mainland Greece, praises Sifnos as a “quintessential Greek island”. He emphasizes its harmonious combination of stunning beaches, laid-back nightlife, charming white Cycladic villages, sustainable tourism practices, and “arguably” the best food in the Cyclades.
Barrett also highlights Naxos as a “captivating destination” and describes the island as a place that appeals not only to sun-seekers and beach enthusiasts but also to those with an inclination for Greek culture and nature.
Naxos stands out as the greenest island in the Cyclades, featuring villages where traditional attire is still worn, old looms are used for weaving, and a close connection with the bounties of the land is maintained.
The article suggests that May, June, and September offer favorable weather conditions for visiting Greece. “Historically, these months were less crowded with tourists, but Greece’s endeavors to establish itself as a year-round destination have contributed to increased popularity throughout the year,” the article informs.
In addition to Sifnos and Naxos, the New York Post’s list of top Greek destinations to visit this summer also includes Lesvos, Pelion, Crete, Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, and Santorini.
Established in 1801 and transitioning into a tabloid format in the mid-20th century, the New York Post currently holds the fourth highest distribution rank among newspapers in the United States.
With a digital network that reached approximately 198 million unique users in June 2022, the publication continues to be one of the most popular sources of news and information in the country.
