Six Senses Luxury Resorts to Make Debut Near Athens
Luxury hospitality giant Six Senses Hotels, Resorts and Spas will be making its debut in Greece after entering a management deal with Grivalia Hospitality for a new sustainable leisure and wellness hotel on Megalonisos, the largest island of the Petalioi complex in the Gulf of Evia, dubbed the “Greek Maldives”.
The Six Senses Megalonisos, to include 75 guest villas and 20 branded residences for sale, will be a short boat ride from the port of Rafina or from Marmari on Evia’s western coast.
Completion date has been set for 2027.
The location is ideal for yachts and sailboats as it is protected by the winds while also perfect for diving and hiking. Additionally, Six Senses Megalonisos aims to be part of easy day trips from Athens.
“Six Senses Megalonisos offers a unique opportunity to step foot on a Greek island that even the Gods left undiscovered,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses. “We look forward to welcoming our guests with emotional hospitality that encompasses pioneering wellness, sustainability, and meaningful experiences.”
The new luxury resort will be constructed with sustainable materials, powered by its own solar electric farm and aims to implement responsible tourism practices. It will include three restaurants offering all-day dining, a beach bar and grill, a specialty sunset bar, a pastry café, spa, Watsu and hammam.
Among others, guests will be able to enjoy locally inspired cuisine and spa treatments along with trademark experiences and brand differentiators, including Sleep, Eat, and Grow With Six Senses, the Alchemy Bar, Earth Lab, and Integrated Wellness.
“We are delighted to join forces with Six Senses as we share common values in terms of sustainability and well-being. At Grivalia Hospitality, via our investments, we aim to create special and unique hospitality projects and experiences, while at the same time strengthening Greece’s position as a leading destination for luxury tourism and attracting world-class brands that recognize the great potential of our country in the premium hospitality sector,” said Grivalia Hospitality Chairman & CEO George Chryssikos.
The Megalonisos project, budgeted at approximately 280 million euros, is expected to contribute more than 1 billion euros to Greece’s GDP while creating some 800 jobs during construction phase and 400 permanent positions once it opens.
Grivalia’s portfolio includes luxury hospitality projects including Amanzoe in Porto Heli (Peloponnese), One&Only Aesthesis in Glyfada, ON Residence, Avantmar on Paros and the Voula Project.
