Greek Hospitality, F&B Services Post Strong Turnover in February
Greek businesses offering hospitality and F&B (food and beverages) services posted a 22.9 percent rise in overall turnover in February, according to the latest monthly report released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Combined, the two segments of the Greek economy saw total turnover reach 233,928,755 euros from 190,382,865 euros in the same month in 2022.
More specifically, enterprises active in accommodation services saw turnover increase by 27 percent in February to 90.46 million euros compared to 71.21 million euros in February 2022. The positive performance is attributed to the increase in tourist arrivals to Greece earlier than ever before.
Businesses offering F&B services reported a 20.4 percent rise in turnover for the month reaching 143,465,460 euros compared to February 2022 and 119,169,120 euros.
The best-performing regional unit in February compared to the same month a year ago was Messinia, where figures were up by 49.1 percent while the smallest increase at 8.7 percent was recorded in the regional unit Kos in the Dodecanese. Meanwhile, the regional unit of Mykonos recorded a decrease of 26.3 percent in combined accommodation-F&B activity.
“ELSTAT data confirms our policy, which is always aimed at supporting the average Greek family,” said Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias commenting on the figures via his twitter account.
