Travel Agencies Still Holding Strong in Greece
Greeks are still seeking the guidance of travel agents despite the onslaught of new technologies and online options, said the Federation of Hellenic Associations of Tourist & Travel Agencies (FedHATTA) this week.
According to the federation, Greeks continue to trust travel agents when it comes to planning organized trips in Greece or abroad. Among others, travel agents operate under a legal framework, know the laws, can guarantee hassle- and problem-free travel, are specialized in destinations, have experience, know how to read between the lines and are aware of marketing tactics, can secure better offers and discounts, and are available should something go wrong.
FedHATTA found that more travelers are seeking professional agent services for their organized travels because they can benefit from the guarantees provided under the law. Customer protection is ensured through mandatory contracts which state the details of the trip, the rights and obligations of the contracting parties, liability insurance of the organizer, conditions for repatriation of travelers and refunds in case of insolvency or non-performance and other obligations.
Earlier this year, the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA) signed a cooperation agreement with the Greek Development Ministry and EBETAM certification body to ensure the quality of services provided by travel agencies and to award certification.
