Greece a Popular Choice for TUI Customers This Easter
Greece is a leading holiday choice for Easter travelers this year, according to global tour operator TUI.
More specifically, citing Easter booking data so far, demand for sunshine destinations is on the rise, said TUI. In addition to Greece, holidaymakers from the UK and German markets are showing interest in the Canary Islands, Turkey, Balearics, mainland Spain, and Egypt.
TUI will be handling more than 500,000 customers on holiday over Easter with the load factor expected to reach 95 percent of pre-Covid 2019 levels.
A key trend this year, according to TUI analysts, is that customers continue to book on shorter notice and prefer package holidays and all-inclusive deals.
“Booking momentum remains encouraging with strong demand for Easter holidays. We anticipate capacities to be close to pre-pandemic levels, we expect a good summer 2023,” said TUI Group CEO Sebastian Ebel.
Ebel went on to add that TUI products are popular and in high demand in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and in many other markets where people are looking for relaxation in the sun and active experiences.
Earlier this year, TUI said that there was a strong intent for travel and a significant increase in booking momentum. The UK and German markets saw record individual booking days. In the four weeks to February 5, bookings were around 10 percent higher than pre-Covid 2019 levels, with prices also being higher.
Speaking at ITB Berlin last month, TUI Deutschland CEO Stefan Baumert said the company was expecting a “good to very good” summer season. Referring to Greece, Baumert said 50 percent of airline seats and beds for some Greek islands were booked.
Lastly, TUI analysts cited recent studies which reveal that customers do not want to give up holidays despite the current economic uncertainties.
