Greek Marble Gets its Own Visual Brand Identity
The Macedonia Thrace Marble Enterprises Association (SEMMTH) recently unveiled a new, unified visual identity for the promotion of Greek marble.
Titled “Greek Marble. Then. Now. Forever”, the new visual identity was revealed to the public during a special event supported by Enterprise Greece.
According to SEMMTH, it aims to convey Greek marble’s timelessness dating back to antiquity, as well as its versatile use in small-scale home projects or large-scale constructions of particular importance and symbolism.
Furthermore, it underlines marble’s natural and sustainable features that make it “a suitable material in contemporary design and architecture”.
During the event, SEMMTH President Ioulia Haida highlighted the Greek marble industry’s contribution to the country’s economy, and especially its export value which reached 360,748,000 million euros in 2021 compared to 288,720,000 million euros in 2020.
She also underlined that Greece ranks 5th in the World Marble Exports country list and 2nd in the EU, with 76 percent of its annual production sent abroad in more than 120 countries.
In addition, Authorized Advisor and Executive Member of the Enterprise Greece Board Betty Alexandropoulou added that the new identity “can differentiate Greek marble from its competitors” and enhance its unique features.
Alexandropoulou noted Greece’s successful participation in the international exhibition “The Big 5” 2022 in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Greece also participated for the first time in the most important exhibition of the sector in North America, the international Exhibition TISE-StonExpo in Las Vegas.
Greek marble has a long history and is an important part of the country’s heritage. The industry has a vast experience and know-how in marble mining and processing, employing experienced quarrymen and craftsmen in state-of-the-art facilities. The new visual brand identity for Greek marble is expected to boost the sector’s exports and capitalize on the momentum that has been created.
