ITA Airways Holds Trade Event in Athens, Gives Update on Summer Intercontinental Network Expansion

Greek travel agents received updates on the latest news and services involving ITA Airways during an event held in Athens on Thursday.
The Italian flag-carrier’s top partners in the Greek market were warmly welcomed by ITA Airways Regional Manager Europe Carla Catuogno, ITA Airways Country Manager Greece & Malta Anna Xenaki and the ITA Airways Greece team.
During the event, the travel agents were informed on the airline’s intercontinental network expansion scheduled for this summer which will ensure seamless connections to and from Athens.
With regard to Athens, ITA Airways during the summer will increase the number of daily connections from the Greek capital to Rome Fiumicino and back, ensuring convenient connections to the destinations of its network.
Moreover, the airline will operate seasonal direct flights from Corfu, Rhodes and Heraklion to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate and from Kefalonia to Rome Fiumicino.
Long-haul flights this summer
During the trade event, ITA Airways’ representatives informed on one of the key pillars of the airline’s strategy: its expansion in the lang-haul market.
This summer the airline will launch new routes to the United States, with direct flights from Rome Fiumicino to Washington operating from June 2 with 5 weekly frequencies. From August 1 the flight will be daily.
The new Rome Fiumicino – San Francisco route that will operate from July 1 with 3 weekly frequencies and from August 2 five times a week.
In addition, the company is strengthening its offer on direct connections between Rome and New York. From June 1, the airline will add an additional flight from Rome Fiumicino to New York, bringing the daily frequencies connecting the Italian capital with JFK Airport to 3.
ITA Airways is also expanding to South America. From August the airline will add four weekly flights to its daily connections between Rome Fiumicino and Sao Paulo. Thanks to the new flights, the company will increase its flights to 11 weekly between Rome and São Paulo. With the launch of the daily Rio de Janeiro – Rome Fiumicino direct flight at the end of October, the total number of flights between Brazil and Italy will rise to 18.
All new destinations will ensure seamless connections to and from Athens.
