GDPA Promotes Greece as Luxury Destination for Weddings at ITB Berlin
The Greek Destination Planners Association (GDPA) found this year’s ITB Berlin tourism expo to be the perfect platform to promote Greece as top luxury destination for weddings and honeymoons.
Founded in 2020 GDPA aims to bring together Greek wedding and event planners by promoting Greece as a prime wedding and event tourism destination. The association highlights Greece’s high-end services on offer and the variety of its destinations, which stretch beyond the renowned locations of Athens, Mykonos and Santorini.
“Our country offers exceptional destinations of unique beauty, with enchanting views and cultural heritage, which enchant visitors who choose Greece as a country to get married,” GDPA said in an announcement following the exhibition.
Represented by three of its board members, Thomas Politis, Anna Sourbati and Vasso Vantali, GDPA was a co-exhibitor at the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) stand at ITB Berlin, along with another 75 Greek tourism organizations, businesses and destinations.

During ITB Berlin, GDPA held meetings with local officials and businesses from various Greek destinations and discussed future collaborations between planners and Greek hotel businesses that would further facilitate GDPA’s expansion plans.
Furthermore, the association presented its “Love Like Greece” compilation video at its stand, underlining the beauty, cultural heritage and unique views Greek locations can offer to couples who may want to get married in the country.
According to the association, Greece’s good road network and advanced air and sea travel connections make destinations like Halkidiki, Epirus, Peloponnese, Rhodes and Northeastern Aegean Islands more accessible for those looking for alternative wedding locations with Crete, Rhodes and Ioannina topping the preference list.
GDPA aims to participate in more travel trade fairs around the world in 2023 and organize fam trips to promote luxury wedding tourism in Greece. In addition, it plans to expand its current 20-member network with professional wedding and events planners from across the country to allow a better management of higher demands expected in 2024 and 2025.
With the slogan “Open for Change”, the world’s leading travel trade show ITB Berlin opened its doors on the Berlin exhibition grounds during March 7-9 for the first time as an exclusively B2B event and hosted a total of hosted 5,500 exhibitors from 161 countries.
