Glyfada Golf Course to Host 1st Pro-Am Tournament for Maritime Industry
The Glyfada Golf Course in the Glyfada suburb in South Athens on April 1 will host the first pro-am golf tournament for the maritime industry in Greece.
Organized by Birdie Events and ActiveMedia Group, the Glyfada Maritime Pro-Am event is expected to see the participation of over 70 leading executives from the Greek and global maritime industry.
The tournament will have a team format with each team consisting of one professional golfer and three amateur athletes from the maritime industry. The competition will be a shotgun scramble on an 18-hole, par 72 championship course.
This format offers several benefits, including providing an opportunity for amateur athletes to compete and learn alongside professionals, promoting teamwork, and allowing players to compete on a top-tier golf course.
The tournament will take place at the “K. Karamanlis” Glyfada golf course, an international standard venue that is set against a backdrop of low hills, large trees, and low Mediterranean vegetation.
The top three teams in the overall standings will receive prizes, and special awards will be given to players with the best scores in the categories of “Longest Drive” and “Closest to the Pin“. Even non-golfers will be able to participate by attending a Golf Clinic.

The Glyfada Maritime Pro-Am is an initiative of renowned Greek PGA golfer, Thanos Karantzias, and is exclusively for distinguished executives from the Greek shipping industry.
The gold tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony at the outdoor area of the all-day Colonial restaurant at Golf Prive in Glyfada.
According to the organizers, the special golf event is expected to open a new chapter in the relationship between golf and the maritime community, providing a platform for industry leaders to compete, network, and showcase their golfing skills.
