Greece Set to Win Over Romanian Vacationers This Year
Travelers from Romania are choosing Greece for their holidays this year, according to feedback gathered by the Greek National Tourism Organization GNTO) during its participation in this year’s Romanian International Tourism Fair ROMEXPO (TTR) held in Bucharest last month.
More specifically, according to the GNTO, Greece is set to win over Romanian vacationers this year with prebookings already exceeding 2021 and pre-Covid 2019 levels for the given period.
This year under the GNTO umbrella, the regions of Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Thessaly, Central Greece, Western Greece, the Ionian Islands and Crete as well as the Halkidiki Tourism Organization, the Municipality of Volos, the Chamber of Trikala and the hotel companies Grecotel and Zeus International presented Romanian visitors to the fair with their offerings and products.
During the TTR 2023, the GNTO Romania branch organized a series of events and presentations. Additionally, nearly 80 tourist enterprises from Greece and Romania held B2B meetings. A main happening was an event by the Romanian National Association of Travel Agents (ANAT).
Awards to Romanian media
The GNTO also arranged for the promotion of select Greek destinations through digital platforms and social media and local television channels and awarded Romanian tourist blogs that participated in a competition.
Moreover, the Region of Crete awarded radio producer and journalist Daniel Buzdugan for promoting Crete and Greece.
The Romanian Tourism Fair was held in the Romexpo Bucharest Exhibition Center Bucharest February 23-26. The event is organized by Romexpo twice a year.
