Ten Greek Hotels Receive 2023 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards
Ten Greek hotels located in Athens and on Corfu, Mykonos and Santorini have been included in the recently released Forbes Travel Guide’s 2023 Star Awards list of winners.
Founded in the US in 1958 as the Mobil Guide, Forbes Travel Guide is considered the oldest travel guide in the US and its star rating service offers a coveted certification mark to tourism related businesses across the globe.
To compile its 65th annual Star Awards, Forbes Travel Guide’s incognito inspectors checked into hotels and cruise ships, dined in restaurants and experienced spa services while posing as ordinary guests.
The inspectors tested up to 900 rigorous standards, from modern-day luxuries—such as whether a room is set up to enhance sleep quality or whether the food-and-beverage choices support a guest’s well-being—to more traditional elements, such as the décor and the attention the staff pays to a guest.
Seventy percent of a property’s rating relies on its service—with a more exacting look at the guest experience as a new service metric for 2023—while the remaining 30 percent accounts for the quality and condition of its facilities.
Among the ten Greek hotels recognized as 2023 Star Award Winners, four got a 5-Star rating, two a 4-Star rating and four a recommended rating, while all ten of them got a Luxury Badge verification.
The Andronis Luxury Suites and the Katikies Santorini on Santorini, Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens in Athens and Katikies Mykonos on Mykonos got the highest recognition that only 360 hotels worldwide got this year at the US travel guide’s Star Awards.
The Forbes Travel Guides inspectors highlighted Andronis Luxury Suites’ location, culinary offers and history, and Katikies Santorini’s breathtaking waterfront views and private island tours.
Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, which became the Greek capital’s first ever 5-Star rated hotel on the winner’s list, got praise for its staff, location and accommodation offers.
Katikies Mykonos was referred to as a “sophisticated retreat” in tune with the island’s beauty.
Both Greek properties in the 4-star rating category, Grace Hotel Santorini and Santorini Secret Suites & Spa, are located on Santorini.
The guide’s inspectors highlighted Grace Hotel’s “nature-meets-modern-life feeling” as well as its special treat of allowing guests to choose the scent of their rooms.
Santorini Secret Suites & Spa got extra points for its one-of-a-kind vistas, spa experience and hot tub or pool offer for every suite resident.
Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa on Corfu, Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens and King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens in Athens and Kouros Hotel & Suites on Mykonos were included on the recommended list of 433 global winners.
Angsana Corfu was hailed for its one of kind pool, location, proximity to the UNESCO recognized town of Corfu and unique spa treatments.
