Greek Destinations Among Top 25 European Places Brits Want to Visit in 2023
Athens and the islands of Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos are among the Top 25 European Destinations British travelers want to explore in 2023, according to recently released research commissioned by Celebrity Cruises.
The survey, which saw 2,000 Brits revealing their 2023 top holiday choices, was part of Celebrity Cruises launch of the interactive Find the “X” Challenge, where participants can win a free luxury cruise for two.
Rhodes managed the best placing on the top 25 list as the 4th most popular holiday destination among British holidaymakers with Corfu finishing 6th followed by Athens (7th), Santorini (9th) and Mykonos (12th).
Rome (1st) and Barcelona (2nd) topped the list, followed by Venice (3rd), while Florence (5th), Lisbon (8th) and Seville (10th) rounded the top 10.
“I’m not surprised to see iconic cities in Italy, Greece, and Spain feature so high on British travelers’ priority list,” said Celebrity Cruises EMEA Managing Director Jo Rzymowska.
According to the research almost three out of four Brits (74 percent) said holidays are a priority for them in 2023 with location (48 percent) and value for money (46 percent) being their top considerations when choosing their holidays destination.
Furthermore, when it came to accommodation amenities the study found that 58 percent of people put Wi-Fi at the top of their list of must-haves while on vacation.
Other research findings included:
– 39 percent agree holidays in 2023 are a high priority for them, with almost one in ten (9 percent) considering them a top priority.
– Four in ten (39 percent) are looking forward to embracing local culture during their vacation this year, with almost the same percentage saying that in 2023 they want to try visiting somewhere they have never been before.
– 36 percent of those polled are looking to book package holidays to consolidate higher costs due to inflation and the cost-of-living crisis.
