Jet2holidays Becomes the UK’s Largest Tour Operator
Jet2holidays is now the UK’s largest tour operator, according to the latest ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing) data published by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The announcement comes after Jet2holidays increased its ATOL license for the year by over 500,000 to 5,859,600 passengers, more than any other UK tour operator.
This puts the package holiday provider over half a million passengers ahead of the nearest tour operator (TUI UK with an ATOL licence for 5,336,410 passengers) and comes in response to strong and continued demand from independent travel agents, Jet2holidays said.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2holidays, thanked the independent travel agents for their “integral role in success” and vows to repay their faith by “focusing resolutely on partnership approach”.
According to Heapy, becoming the UK’s largest tour operator is a significant milestone in the history of Jet2holidays.
“But it will not change a single thing that we do. Our continued success is because we have the best team in the industry who work tirelessly to look after our customers and independent travel agency partners, and we will never lose sight of that fundamental principle,” Heapy said.
In response to demand, Jet2holidays has its biggest ever summer programme on sale this year, with over 15 million seats to choose from across more than 65 sun and leisure city destinations.
On top of the huge summer programme, the package holiday provider has added capacity to a number of destinations in recent weeks as more customers look to book their holidays with Jet2holidays.
Jet2holidays launched in 2007 with a license to carry just 23,000 passengers to 15 destinations.
The announcement of Jet2holidays becoming the UK’s largest tour operator comes in the same week that the company’s airline Jet2.com celebrates exactly 20 years since its first ever flight.
