Registrations have opened for Thessaloniki‘s forthcoming 6th “Olympic Day Run” Greece sports event scheduled to take place on April 2.
The “Olympic Day Run” is an official institution of the International Olympic Committee, implemented in over 200 countries around the world, attracting more than 5.5 million runners annually.
Greece’s event, which last year saw participants coming from 74 countries across five continents, will bring together Olympians, Paralympians, distinguished athletes, sports clubs, and associations from all over the country to honor the 75th anniversary of the “Olympic Day” global institution celebrating the revival of the modern – day Olympic Games.
This year, the “Olympic Day Run” is commemorating the Athens 1896 Olympic Games by offering new, more enjoyable routes of 10K, 5K, and 1.5K for participants from Greece and across the globe.
Its AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) certified races are designed for adults (10K), adults and teenagers (5K), and for all ages (1.5K). School teams can participate in the 1.5K race free of charge, while group registrations apply to all races.
Furthermore, the event’s motto, “Not Just A Run…The Olympic Run”, highlights its rich educational, cultural, and social action program that is based on the Olympic values.
The program unfolds throughout the year, with the revival of the “Family Run + Fun” and the “Olympic Day Park“, an activity park for children, teenagers, and their families.
The event is organized in Greece by the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Academy, the Association of Participants in the Olympic Games, SEGAS, and the DKO OLYMPiA.
All runners who complete the races receive a commemorative medal and participation diploma from the International and Greek Olympic Committee, while the winners will receive special prizes from the 6th “Olympic Day Run” Greece.
Early bird registration will be valid until February 20. Participants can register online at olympicdayrun.gr or in person at the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki.
