Greek Ports: 64.9% Increase in Passenger Traffic in Second Quarter
Greek ports saw a 64.9 percent increase in total passenger traffic (domestic and international) during the second quarter of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
The data is from ELSTAT’s latest survey on the traffic of passengers, goods and mobile units (vehicles) at Greek ports.
According to the data, 8,954,863 people traveled through Greek ports during April-June. Domestic passengers were up by 65.1 percent to 8,647,188 and international passengers rose 58 percent to 307,675, compared with April-June in 2022.
When comparing Q2 2021 with the second quarter of 2020, ELSTAT recorded a 70.8 percent increase. During Q2 2020, Greek ports saw a total of 3,117,533 travelers while in 2021 the number rose to 5,236,102.
With regard to the total movements of goods in Greek ports in the second quarter of 2022, the data showed a 5.6 percent decrease compared with the same period in 2021.
In addition, the total traffic of mobile units (vehicles) in Greek ports in Q2 2022 increased by 26.8 percent compared with the second quarter of 2021.
