Peloponnese and Kalamata Take Spotlight During ΤΒΕΧ Europe 2023
The world’s top travel bloggers and creators will be meeting up in Kalamata, Greece, for the ΤΒΕΧ Europe 2023 – Peloponnese conference on May 8-11, Peloponnese Regional Governor Panagiotis Nikas announced this week.
“The digital age is giving the Peloponnese Region the chance by organizing TBEX Europe 2023 – Peloponnese to make its dynamic entry into the tourism of a new, different, more humane philosophy… a tourism that is connected to the environment; a tourism that brings people closer together,” said Nikas during a press conference in Nafplio on the four-day event.
Hundreds of travel bloggers and creators will have the chance to exchange know-how and share insight on the latest trends in travel and blogging, while getting an introduction to the Peloponnese region’s tourist offerings. The Kalamata event will include meetings, educational programs, presentations by leading industry professionals on storytelling, writing, photography, video creation, podcasting, and SEO; networking opportunities; and fam trips.
According to data, TBEX participants are expected to stay from 10 to 30 days in the area boosting tourist activity from the end of April to the end of May and promoting the Peloponnese region to more than 300 million readers on social media and through blogs and sites.
“The future of tourism belongs to the Peloponnese,” said Nikas, adding that besides being an authentic destination that has not attracted mass tourism, it also boasts a wealth of offerings including everything from mythology and world-famous historical monuments to incomparable natural beauty, olive oil, olives and wine, gastronomy and high quality products that make up the world-recognized Mediterranean Diet.
TBEX CEO Rick Calvert described Kalamata and the Peloponnese region as an “ideal choice”.
“After all,” he said, “the region has been preparing for TBEX for about 5,000 years. Homer is, in fact, the first travel blogger in history.”
Calvert went on to add that in view of new trends, this year’s familiarization trips (PreBEX Tours & FAM Trips) have been designed to offer TBEX Kalamata participants a comprehensive experience, covering all areas of the Peloponnese and showcasing local gastronomy, culture, nature and way of life.
When professionals meet and exchange opinions and ideas, share experiences, network and learn about the latest trends and best practices, this can only have a positive effect on the tourism industry, said Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis during the press conference. He added that TBEX conferences have been found to increase destination traffic and revenue for local communities.
Lastly, via video message, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said that ΤΒΕΧ Europe 2023 – Peloponnese will contribute to the promotion of the Peloponnese worldwide.
Kalamata will be the second Greek city to host a TBEX conference. Athens hosted the event in 2014.
