Apollo Rejser to Add Ioannina to its Travel Packages for Scandinavian Market
Scandinavian tour operator Apollo Rejser is planning to include the city of Ioannina in Epirus, northwestern Greece, as a destination in its travel packages for 2023.
Established in 1986, Apollo Rejser is one of the Nordic’s region leading tour operators that organizes trips, holidays and cruises around the world. According to the company, Greece is its most popular summer charter destination.
Executives from Apollo Rejser recently visited Ioannina looking to include the city among its proposed destinations for the summer 2023 season. The team’s visit included a tour to the Ioannina International Airport, where they had the chance to discover its range of services and also discuss its possible future needs.
According to the team’s forecast, Ioannina’s airport is expected next year to see a significant increase in passenger traffic from Scandinavian regions. Based on this data, Apollo Rejser is expected to add another direct flight from a Scandinavian country, which will be announced soon.
During their stay, the team members of Apollo Rejser were offered a digital and printed info package about the wider area of Ioannina as well as a welcome gift of local products sponsored by the Ioannina Region Hotels Association.
Three out of five members visited Ioannina for the first time, while future visits of Apollo Rejser’s executives are also scheduled to carry out the company’s plans for the region.
According to the city’s hotels association, the Ioannina International Airport, aims to expand its services following a post pandemic recovery plan.
The airport’s summer 2023 program will see the addition of two scheduled direct flights to Tel Aviv, charter flights to the Nordic Region as well as connections through new scheduled flights with low-cost air carriers.
Passenger and aircraft traffic at Ioannina’s airport rose by 110 percent and 11 percent respectively in 2022, compared to 2021.
