Images and colors of Greece were seen throughout the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre during the recent Travel News Market in Sweden.

Greece was the honored country at the event, which took place for the seventh year on November 10 under the title “Travel News Market 2022 by Greece – Honored Country“.

Travel News Market is the leading B2B travel event in Sweden and brings international travel suppliers in contact with the Nordic outbound market.

This year marked two firsts for the event, with the “Honored Country” idea introduced, and an inaugural Hosted Byers program offering greater visibility of the event’s activities in the greater Scandinavian area.

During the Swedish event, which saw the participation of more than 220 exhibitors and 1,000 travel professionals, the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO) promo videos “All You Want is Greece” and “Greece: You Will Want To Stay Forever” were continuously screened in various areas of the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre.

The GNTO’s head of the Scandinavian branch, Pavlos Mourmas, had the opportunity to meet with representatives from tourism companies including Ving (Nordic Leisure Travel Group), Apollo, Tema/Jambo Tours, Mixx Travel, Airbone Travel/Orient Tours and StenaLine/Sembo.

Meetings were also held with the Swedish event’s new partners such as T.O. Almena, T.A. Lime Travel, Exclusive Tours and Sunray Travel who expressed an interest in adding Greece to their travel packages, while tour operator Almena showed a particular interest in Greek golf tourism.

Mourmas also held talks with a representative from airport management company Swedavia on boosting flights from Scandinavia to Greece.

According to the GNTO, journalists specializing in travel and leisure that attended the event expressed interest in participating in press trips to Greece, mainly to mainland lesser-known destinations and tourist areas where sustainable practices are followed.

The “Travel News Market 2022 by Greece – Honored Country” B2B event was organized by the popular online tourist magazine Restavel and Swedish website Travel News.
